Crappy Hotel

I'm really starting to wonder about this hotel. It wasn't too clean when I moved in but I didn't pay much attention to that. I had other things on my mind. But then on Friday, when the weekly clean was due nobody showed up. The next day I went down to reception to ask what was up with that. They had no idea but said they'd get somebody to come clean the room the next day, today. There was no apology. That was curious, I thought.

I was a bit concerned, so I went down to reception again this morning. It happened to be the assistant manager who was there. I told him my story and he said that it was correct, I was done for cleaning today. He was going to make sure it happened. Reassured I went on my merry way.

But when I got home the room still hadn't been cleaned. So I gathered up all the dirty towels and marched down to reception. The young woman there thought that the cleaner might not have gotten to my room because there wasn't enough staff, it being the weekend. But tomorrow my room would probably be cleaned, she said. I said "Probably?" She realised her mistake and said it would be cleaned for sure.

I'll believe it when I see it.

We had the same problem when we stayed at an extended stay that did weekly cleaning. We had to keep on them, and they had that exact attitude like why are you bothering me?!! The cleaning itself was a joke too. The best part was the one time they showed up as scheduled, the woman broke the toilet but didn't tell anyone. Thankfully it was an easy fix and I noticed it before the staff had gone for the day.
Ugh. The cleaning was a joke once it happened. I'm tempted to get some cleaning stuff and do it myself. I wonder if they've ever cleaned the windows here, for instance.
What kind of hotel is this? There is no excuse for that.

Do you know how long you will be there? Are you looking for an apartment?
Extended stay. Apparently they tend to be like that. I'm going to start looking for a flat when I've got a job. With the downturn in the market, that may be a while. :-(
I thought you had a job?

You know, there are extended stay hotels in Emeryville, would one of those make more sense?

I'll look into that once I've got my car. Thanks for the tip.
