Why is the bathroom door made out of steel?

Interesting. I never thought about that- but in reflection, the vast majority of bathroom doors I've seen in commercial establishments have been metal. Here in the State Capitol, though- most of them are wood, to fit in with the historical aspects of the building.
Because someone really didn't like interruptions?

[actually, it's so bathrooms can double as tornado/earthquake shelters]
I believe it's in case of fire. Should you be unable to escape the room by the normal door, you could hole up in the bathroom and breathe through the bathtub drain.

Also: Welcome back to the States!

To keep the crocodiles coming up from the toilet from leaving the bathroom any other way than back from where they came.
