Welsh Mountain Ponies in the Brecon Beacons

On my Boxing Day walk from the Neuadd Reservoir to Pen-y-Fan, I saw Welsh Mountain ponies grazing on the side of Cribyn. It was a magical experience. There aren't that many Welsh Mountain ponies left. If you're interested, learn more at Wikipedia, and the Welsh Pony and Cob Society

There was a small herd in the valley. A brown and a black pony were grazing together.

Closer to the trail, a mare and her yearling foal were grazing together.

The mare. I'm wondering if she's really got that fat off the rough grazing or if she's pregnant.

The foal must have been born last spring.
